I'm a Principal Engineer with roughly 20 years of professional experience spanning a wide range of industries, with a mix of architecture and hands-on development; who happens to live in Bristol, UK.
I believe in creating highly performant systems that are scalable and accessible; whether they're web, mobile or backend.
So, I've been doing this for way too long - though thankfully I enjoy it. I started tinkering when I was 4 years old, copying code out of magazines that never worked due to far too many mistakes in the source material.
Over 30 years later, I work as a Principal Engineer - working with a mix of development, architecture and strategy. I spent a considerable part of my career working as a contractor, and have worked in far too many sectors to list, including telecommunications, media, travel and finance. Due to this, I've ended up with a breadth of knowledge across a wide range of technologies, and I'm always playing around with something new and shiny.
I focus primarily on making things that are highly performant, secure and scalable; with a considerable focus on accessible development in the frontend.
I have been involved in everything from the scoping and implementation of technology transformations for large enterprises, all the way down to fixing someone's dodgy Wordpress site. You can find out more about my past work over here.
I'm also the volunteer Chief Technology Officer for Spreading Cheer LTD, responsible for projects such as Givin Gifts; a worldwide gift exchange platform.
